"I have worked with a diverse population of students. I was a teacher in urban KCK for two years and then Spring Hill for two years. In the classroom, I taught 4th and 5th grade, but I've tutored students K-12. I've also helped students prepare for the ACT. Additionally, I am certified to teach students who have English as their Second Language (ESL) and middle school mathematics."

"I have been teaching in KCK for the last four years. I always knew teaching was my passion, and I love watching kids make connections and learn new things. One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing the pride and happiness in their faces as they reach their potential and realize how smart and capable they are."

"I have spent my career in the technology field, so I am passionate about sharing STEM with the next generation. I have taught technology camps to elementary age students. I have also been a volunteer with American Heritage Girls, A Bright Future for Kid, and am currently active with an organization of bikers that serve local children who have experienced trauma."

"I have tutored high school and college students in math and physics at area colleges and private high schools, and throughout local school districts. I place an emphasis on teaching in a way that is graspable and retainable, working with the particular student's own way of learning, asking the student lots of questions as we go to develop the ability to articulate knowledge, and building the student's own independent thinking and confidence. I love to teach and see that light bulb go on!"

"I have taught Middle School math for 20 years. I am currently teaching an Honors
Algebra and Honors Geometry course. The other part of my school day consists of working with 5th - 8th grade students as “push-in” math support. I love working with students of all ages. My experience also includes tutoring in Reading (all grades), Math (grades 4-Algebra 2). I also have tutored College Algebra and ACT Prep."

“I received my undergrad degree from Kansas State University in criminology. I was a social worker for about a year in Kansas City before going back to get my Masters in Teaching. I now teach in KCK. I have been teaching 3rd grade for 2 years now going into my third year.”

"I am a junior at the University of Kansas, and will be licensed to teach middle school science and high school chemistry upon graduation. I have tutored both middle school and high school students focusing on math and science content areas. As an AVID tutor for Lawrence Public Schools, I tutor students in a wide variety of content areas as well as cover ACT prep curriculum. I tailor my teaching to match each student’s learning style, focusing on making concepts understandable and memorable."

"I have experience working with high school and college level students in the math and science areas. I volunteered as an AVID tutor at a local high school previously and was also a student instructor for microbiology at KU. I have found educating others to be my true passion. I enjoy working with people of all different backgrounds and it amazes me how we all have different learning styles. Seeing that “aha!” moment is truly fulfilling."

"I taught 2nd grade for a semester and then taught Special Education. I worked for Head Start and had children of all kinds in my class. I've worked with students who have autism, dyslexia, and more. I miss working with children and helping them reach their potential and enjoying learning."

"I have a strong background with math and science, I received an A.S. in Biology upon high-school graduation and am now working towards my B.S. in Chemistry at KU with a focus on a pre-medical pathway. I am passionate about helping students succeed in math and science because STEM has always been important to me. STEM helps build creativity, problem solving and critical thinking, which are all important skills to have in life. Each student learns in their own way and it's important to analyze this and build an understanding of how to help them achieve their academic goals."
