"I have worked with a diverse population of students. I was a teacher in urban KCK for two years and then Spring Hill for two years. In the classroom, I taught 4th and 5th grade, but I've tutored students K-12. I've also helped students prepare for the ACT. Additionally, I am certified to teach students who have English as their Second Language (ESL) and middle school mathematics."

I place an emphasis on teaching in a way that is graspable and retainable, working with the particular student's own way of learning, asking the student lots of questions as we go to develop the ability to articulate knowledge, and building the student's own independent thinking and confidence. "I am a sophomore at KU studying biology and Spanish, and when I graduate, I will be licensed to teach middle and high school science. I have always loved helping kids learn, seeing them find an interest or passion for a particular topic, and playing a role in their "lightbulb moments"! I have had experience working with kids of all ages through being a daycare teacher, teaching music lessons to elementary and middle schoolers, volunteering in an elementary school, and working for my former high school's music program. I look forward to getting to know my students and teaching in a personalized way that helps them feel capable and confident in themselves."

"I am a senior at the University of Kansas, and will be licensed to teach middle school science and high school chemistry upon graduation. I have tutored both middle school and high school students focusing on math and science content areas. As an AVID tutor for Lawrence Public Schools, I tutor students in a wide variety of content areas as well as cover ACT prep curriculum. I tailor my teaching to match each student’s learning style, focusing on making concepts understandable and memorable."

“I am a retired Gifted Resource teacher with four grown children and seven grandchildren, moving from Wichita, Kansas to Overland Park four years ago.  I have been substituting in Blue Valley Elementary schools for the last two years. However, upon seeing the monumental mathematical progress and overall educational self-confidence two of my grandsons have made through the tutoring expertise of Adaptive Academics, my passion became ignited to make a real difference in helping students learn and succeed by one-on-one tutoring. And for a teacher, there is simply nothing like those sparks of true understanding, which can lead a student to a lifetime of confident learning!”

I've worked in the education field my entire life and have classroom experience with all grades from elementary to high school. Tutoring for over five years and seeing the progress made from consistent, individual instruction has led me to my true passion. As a summer  school and substitute teacher, I'm knowledgeable in the curriculum of all subjects, but I most frequently tutor math and ELA. I've worked with special needs and have supported students as a learning coach for online school. Adapting to unique learning styles and embedding personal interests into the curriculum, ensures student engagement, confidence, and success!

I have worked with a diverse population since 1985. I have taught first grade, second grade and kindergarten over my 39 years of working with children. I recently retired from Kansas City, KS school district. I am certified to teach Kindergarten-9th grade and students who have English as their second language.

“I am a sophomore at the University of Kansas working towards a B.S. in chemistry on the pre-med track. I have always loved learning, and find particular enjoyment and success in STEM related classes. I am lucky to be studying these concepts everyday, promoting a deep and comprehensive understanding. My goal as a tutor is to adapt intimidating concepts to be simple and approachable, showing all students that they are capable of understanding STEM.”

Additionally, I have worked for two different Congressman, and am passionate about government service, giving back to the communities you serve. I currently work for a government agency managing over 100 staff, supporting States and local communities with developing and processing grants. I have tutored K-12 students and enjoy helping students learn and grow!"
